A little bit about the Eve...
The Eve of Janus Benefit is the largest fundraising effort of the Nashville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Delta Delta in support of the Tri Delta Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. This fundraiser is the longest standing fundraiser for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. To date, the Tri Deltas have contributed over 3.6 million dollars to the Tri Delta Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
Tri Delta alumnae are partial to the sixth floor at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. For 40 years they have been passionate about raising funds and awareness to help support education, research and patient care for children receiving treatment at the Tri Delta Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic at the Children’s Hospital.
Under the leadership of Dr. Debra Friedman, last year this highly specialized program had over 900 hospital admissions and provided outpatient services for over 12,500 more (over a 50% increase from just 5 years ago). The Nashville alumnae chapter of Delta Delta Delta is proud to partner with and support the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Children’s Hospital. A program that was ranked 8th in the nation in Child magazine's national survey.
Passion is contagious! The National Delta Delta Delta Fraternity followed Nashville’s lead and the battle against cancer in children was adopted by the organization as its national philanthropic cause. No child who needs the services of theMonroe Carell Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is denied care because their family cannot afford to pay for care. Last year, approximately 135 children with newly diagnosed cancer received their care at Children's Hospital- about one new patient every three days. Who are they? Our friends, family members and neighbors.

The Signs of the Times are outstanding young women who are selected to be honored during the presentation at The Eve of Janus Ball. In 2003 outstanding young men were selected and honored as well. The young men, known as Marshals, act as escorts for the Signs during their presentation. The Nashville Tri Delta Alumnae Chapter is delighted that these exceptional young women and men have accepted the invitation to be recognized and to be supportive of the Tri Delta Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic at the Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Fact Sheet regarding the great work that has been done at the Tri Delta Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
Janus was the Roman God of gates and doors and was associated with endings and beginnings. He was represented by the image of the two bearded faces looking in opposite directions. He was worshipped at the beginning of important events in a person's life. In addition the month of January was named after him. The name "Eve of Janus" was selected because the event occurred on New Year's Eve of each year. In 2007 The Eve was moved to late July/early August of each year to better coordinate with the schedules of the collegians that are honored at the ball.
